Downtown Mt. Pleasant will be taken back in time to the 1950s on Saturday when the first Rock Around the Block antique car cruise will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Main Street.
It will be hosted by Hayden’s Pharmacy.
Antique and classic cars are welcomed, and there is no fee. Parking on Main Street will be free for all show cars.
The antique and classic car lineup will start at 3 p.m. on Main Street, with overflow to the side streets if necessary. Parking will be on a first-come first-served basis, and meters will be reserved for show cars.
But the event will be more than just antique cars.
The car cruise will coincide with a formal ribbon-cutting for the new pharmacy in town at 5:30 p.m.
The evening will include 10-cent hot dogs, 5-cent sodas, a yo-yo competition and a DJ. A“shake, rattle and roll” classic car town ride will begin at 7 p.m.
